Which Anti-Virus
program is best?
This is a very complex
question, in that there really is no right answer. Spyware,
malware and viruses change daily. There is yet to be a
perfect Anti-virus software that will give you 100% total
protection all the time. One of the biggest problems with
Spyware and Anti-virus software is that not all software
plays nice with all computer system configurations. You may
experience slower computer performance due the need to be
continuously checking for suspicious behavior on the
computer. The more secure you want your computer the slower
it may run. It’s all in finding the right balance for you
and your computer use habits. Virus writers are getting
sneakier and sneakier at disguising there malicious code. So
you do need something. Ultimately it comes down to how and
what you use your computer and home broadband for. As long as you have a good
firewall, basic virus and spyware protection and stay away
from questionable or illegal download sites you greatly
reduce your chances of getting an infection with out giving
up too much speed. There are three main FREE programs I
would recommend as a minimum. They are:
Windows Defender
<----- Click any of these to download
Threat Fire
Some other Free
alternatives:
SpyBot
Search and Destroy
Ad-Aware 2007 Free Edition
Currently on my own
systems, depending on the computer, I run :
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0
- $60
SpyBot Search and Destroy
- Free
Ad-Aware 2007 Free Edition - Free
Windows Defender - Free
Threat Fire - Free
